Area resident Marcus Reyes, who works two full-time jobs to cover rent, groceries, and the fees on the accounts that hold his rent and grocery money, was thrilled to learn Wednesday that his tireless effort had finally qualified him for a third full-time job.
Reyes, who has not seen daylight since the spring, said he was grateful for the opportunity to keep falling behind at an even faster pace. His employers praised his work ethic while declining to raise his wage, citing the tough market that is apparently only tough in one direction.
A spokesperson for the Bootstrap Institute said Reyes's situation proved the system works, adding that if he simply worked a fourth job, cut out coffee, and stopped sleeping, he could one day afford to see a doctor about not sleeping.
